Lauren's 20-year journey has been a tapestry of passion and commitment to the arts, beautifully woven with her deep affection for textile design.

Below is a timeline highlighting key milestones and the unique experiences that have shaped the evolution of Holland Street into the brand it is today.

How It All Started

Holland Street

Lauren grew up in Cambridge during the design-driven 90s, surrounded by bold patterns, striking textiles, and a cultural buzz that sparked endless curiosity and inspiration.
Named after Lauren’s childhood home, it’s where her awareness of creativity began, nurturing her love for design and textiles in a space filled with colour, imagination, and artistic energy.

Holland Street Studio is a celebration of Lauren’s roots, transforming her lifelong passion into a brand that merges creativity, individuality, and the transformative power of textiles.

Meet Lauren, Founder and Creative Director of Holland Street.

Here's my creative journey so far...

Summer 2006

The start of my journey in Textiles, I kicked things off at Loughborough University with a BA in Textile Design, graduating with a 1st Class degree in 2009.

Summer 2007

I got my first taste of the industry as an intern in the buying department at EAST. This opportunity came after a year of working as a sales advisor in-store while I was still a student.

Summer 2008

I stepped into the world of Alexander McQueen for an intensive 3-month internship. I specialised in fashion print and embroidery for the SS09 ‘Darwin’ collection. It was a whirlwind of creativity and teamwork!

May 2009

I was thrilled to be shortlisted to 3 for the British Textile Design Awards, ‘Young Textile Designer of the Year 2009’, in collaboration with Drapers Records, The Clothes Show London, and New Look. Presented by Louise Roe, presenter and influencer.

Summer 2009

I was selected as one of 9 Print students to study at the prestigious Royal College of Art, earning a Master’s in Printed Textile Design (2009–2011), This is where I fell in love with sustainable and traditional production methods.

March 2011

I won First Prize at The Textile Society MA Bursary Awards. I also became a finalist for the Thierry Mugler Collaborative Perfume Concept Project with IFF (International Flavours and Fragrances).

The Start of Entrepreneur Life.

Somerset House, Dragons Den, Holland Street Fashion brand

2013–2014

I enrolled in the School for Creative Start-Ups, a business course designed by Doug Richard (BBC Dragons’ Den). This course was a game-changer! I developed a full business plan, financial forecast, marketing strategies, and even made manufacturing connections, setting the stage for launching my brand in May 2014. Having my own business was a dream and I wanted to make it a reality. The offices were at the historic Somerset House, London.

May 2014:

My big leap! I launched Holland Street Studio, where we design dreamy silk robes, kaftans, and kimonos—perfect for lounging or holiday vibes. Our exclusive debut collection Showcased at at Fenwick of Bond Street. What a moment!

Family Life

Motherhood

I feel truly grateful and honoured to be a mum to two wonderful boys. Becoming a mother has always been central to my dream of shaping a life where I could work for myself while balancing family. This journey has not only enriched my life but also added depth and purpose to my business, which has grown to become more value-driven and meaningful.

Now that my boys are happily settled at school, I found myself refocusing on my passions—design and business. These areas are steadily taking a more prominent role in my life, interweaving seamlessly with the vibrant tapestry of motherhood and all it brings.
