Day 44. Show your mood.. in a Moodboard.

Tomorrow I start Zoom tutorials with my #DesignCraft BA design students. I’ll be sat in my quiet studio looking through the screen of my iPad trying to decipher what they are trying to achieve with their final project.
It’s the first time I’ve seen them and I’m looking forward to seeing results.

But what is the best way to communicate your ideas (even on Zoom)??

My immediate answer is a detailed and focused moodboard. This should show the intentions of the project through visual research, snippets of your drawings, colour chips and maybe even visualisations, and it’s important to edit as you go along so #pinboards are great as you can remove things that aren’t relevant anymore as the project evolves.

I believe it is the quickest and most effective tool in design and crucial for the design process.

A moodboard

1. an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc. intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept."we put together a mood board with key images and words that best convey the essence of the brand"
