Why I Create: A Diary of Emotional Design

Diary Entry: My First Substack Article
It’s a quiet afternoon, and I’m sitting with a cup of tea, thinking about why I started this Substack. Not just the logistics of it, but the heart of it. What am I really trying to say here?
For years, Holland Street has been my creative home—a place where design is emotional, intuitive, and deeply personal. I’ve always believed that clothing should do more than dress the body. It should comfort, empower, and reconnect us to ourselves. But lately, I’ve felt the need to share more. Not just the finished pieces, but the process. The thoughts. The rituals. The why.
This Substack is my way of opening that door. It’s a space to explore what it means to build a creative business with purpose. To talk about emotional design, sensory storytelling, and the quiet power of intuition. I want to write about the things that don’t always make it into the product descriptions—the feelings behind the fabric, the collaborations that feel like soul connections, the moments that remind me why I started all this in the first place.
It’s also a place to connect. With you. With others who believe that creativity can be healing, that style can be a ritual, and that business can be built with care. I’ll be sharing diary entries, behind-the-scenes musings, and reflections on what it means to create with softness and strength.
So here we are. A new beginning. A new rhythm. I’m so glad you’re here.
