The WGSN Futures Awards, hosted by the world’s leading trend authority, celebrate global innovation and breakthrough talent across fashion and the creative industries. Judged by an elite panel of international experts and drawing entries from over 50 countries, the awards are renowned for their global reach and industry influence.
The 2016 ceremony, held in London on 26 May, brings together 400 of the fashion world’s most influential figures. Categories span from Best Digital Innovation to Sustainable Design, with standout recognition for emerging talent.
Among this year’s finalists is Holland Street, the luxury British label founded by Lauren Barfoot, and a nominee for the Avery Dennison Emerging Brand Award. Known for its printed silk kaftans, kimonos, and robes, Holland Street launched in 2014 with a focus on the international loungewear and resortwear markets. Each piece is handmade in the UK and delivered in elegant branded envelopes and silk drawstring bags—an embodiment of thoughtful, sustainable luxury.
Barfoot, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, draws inspiration from historical references, culture, and nature—particularly florals. Her award-nominated designs are celebrated for their vibrant prints, refined silhouettes, and exceptional use of colour and material, earning her multiple accolades during her academic career.
As Holland Street continues to gain international recognition, its place among the WGSN Futures Awards finalists marks a defining moment for the brand—and a promising future for British design.
