Spring/Summer 2027: Six Textile Trends Shaping the Future.
Share
On Wednesday I visited the London Textile Fair at the Business Design Centre in Islington — a place layered with memories for me. It’s where I first stood as a graduate at New Designers, showing my collection to the industry for the very first time. It’s also where I’ve returned many times over the years to support my students from Loughborough and Arts University Bournemouth as they navigated their own graduate shows. The same room once hosted Stylist Live, so walking back into the space always feels like stepping into a familiar chapter of my creative life.
This time, though, I was there for Holland Street — exploring suppliers, both UK‑based and international, gathering new fabric ideas, and doing some good old‑fashioned research into the state of the industry. I left with a stack of business cards, a handful of promising conversations, and a renewed sense of direction.
What I really wanted to share with you today are the Spring/Summer 2027 textile trend boards, sourced from a forecasting platform similar to WGSN. These insights help highlight where the industry is heading and offer a sense of focus — something that can be incredibly grounding when making creative decisions or navigating commercial expectations.
Have a look through the six themes below and see which one resonates most with your style.
Spring/Summer 2027 Trend Moodboards
1. Individualism
A celebration of bold self‑expression and fearless creativity. This trend embraces maximalist prints, vibrant colour clashes, and playful proportions that turn fashion into joyful escapism. Designers treat clothing as art, experimenting with unexpected pairings and graphic energy.

Maximalist prints & patterns
Dopamine colour palettes
Playful, experimental proportions
Art‑inspired fashion
Optimistic, expressive energy

A transformation of classic tailoring through softness, fluidity and modern ease. This theme blurs boundaries — between structure and drape, between menswear and womenswear — creating clothing that feels luxurious without shouting.
Key Features
Bold tailoring softened with drape
Oversized, relaxed silhouettes
Gender‑fluid design
New power dressing
Draped and sculptural forms

3. Eco System

Mindful consumption

4. Virtual Reality
A fusion of fashion, technology and imagination. This trend blurs physical and digital worlds through iridescence, neon, holographic finishes and AI‑influenced graphics.
Key Features

Futuristic, reflective materials
Hi‑lo cultural fusion
Distorted, immersive silhouettes

5. Re‑Growth
A renaissance of craftsmanship where heritage techniques meet modern design thinking. This trend celebrates the maker’s hand — sculptural forms, layered textiles and meticulous detailing.

Artisan detailing
Fabric experimentation
Hybrid materials
Architectural yet wearable design

6. Nostalgia
A return to heritage, authenticity and timeless design. This trend values emotional resonance over novelty, drawing from archives, handcraft and sensory experiences.
