Inspired by 20th-century Japanese graphic designer Ikko Tanaka, this collection of British-made silk kimonos are by London brand Holland Street. Designed by RCA textile graduate Lauren Barfoot, they feature intricate florals in a range of pretty hues. ‘As a designer it’s impossible to look at Tanaka’s work and not be influenced by his use of colour shape and simplicity,’ Barfoot says. ‘He created a style of graphic design that playfully fused the principles of modernism with the Japanese pictorial tradition of ukiyo-e‘.
