Walk through the front door, smell the warm baking bread that makes a house a home. Feel the cold visceral shock of the ocean as the waves break on your body.
Lie in a wild meadow and watch the clouds scud across the sky. Slowly breathe in the scent of summer rain.
Pull on your favourite jumper, feel how you enjoy its softness. Take a walk through a wood, listen to the sounds and sense the endless shades of green, witness the shapes of the trees.
What's it like to be in a jazz club in Paris, a rave in Bucharest, or taking in a view from the highest mountain you have climbed?

When we are making anything we should never forget that as human beings we endlessly engage with our world through our senses. Our bodies are constantly computing all: temperature, pressure, wind, light, taste, sound, it goes on and on and on, all at the same time. Our intuitive consciousness is plumbed into all our senses. Sense and sensations pour into us 24 hours a day. It is how we make sense of the world.

Why does art endure? Because it always one way or another speaks directly to our senses. To design for the senses is not weakness but strength. It resists the belief that making a business succeed is only about numerical measurement, the quest for efficiency rather than truth found in experience. Who cares? Well, we do, human beings do - the people that use your products and services.
Watch a two-year-old play with a touch screen designed for the intuitive sensual design of human fingers. Walk into a local food store and smell the produce, enjoy the texture and warmth of the store. Delight in the astonishing costumes of your children's school play. Know that it is the great authentic food cooked and delivered with loving care that keeps the local restaurant always busy seven days a week.
The interface with design is humanity. Success is when we make a universal cultural contribution - scale that as you like.
Great design is when you design for others to feel, to experience with their senses, perhaps even to be pleasantly surprised - a joyful experience. This joyfulness converts always into goodwill, warm memories and, if you are so inclined, cash. Some of the most successful recent businesses were founded by designers - adopting their practices could be the best thing you do for your business.
We don't think beauty - we feel it, we sense it, we know it.
